There are many people who have trouble sleeping. Although typing away, drinking coffee and watching TV late at night can all cause insomnia, so can your body as it moves during the night. Having a self-regulated environment to sleep in could circumvent some of these obstacles. Although it can't stop you surfing the web or watching TV with a cup of coffee, the 2006 Good Design Award winner, the Sleep Assist System designed by Matsushita Electric Works, comfortably adjusts your sleeping environment from pre-bed preparations to waking up the following morning. It does that by easing your body into sleep and by helping it stay there. The mattress is equipped with electric air massaging gear which relaxes your body. The sleep system systematically controls all equipment including the lights, electric mattress, AV, air-conditioning, and the reclining bed. When the sensor detects you feeling drowsy the lights will gradually dim. When you awake you are greeted with a gradual increase of light which mimics its solar equivalent. You can choose from a wide variety of settings to customize your own "waking-up" experience.
