Pioneer / Network AV playback system for mobile (Prototype)
Pioneer has developed the Network AV Playback System for Mobile, which enables home networks to be used even in moving vehicles.
This technology uses “Community WiMAX,” which is provided mainly by Mobile WiMAX and cable TV operators, to enable TV programs and music recorded at home to be received and streamed on a car navigator or similar device.
This system further expands the current capabilities of home networks such as being able to watch a video recorded in the living room in a bedroom, to enable outdoor access to a home media server, so people can enjoy their favorite programs and music on the move.
Pioneer currently offers car navigators that can use a mobile signal called Air Navi to communicate. From now on, as Mobile WiMAX and Community WiMAX services get started, Pioneer wants to release card-type devices that can play mobile network media.
