Radio-controlled Flying Insect

Mecha Tombo

With summer just around the corner, Hong Kong-based WowWee has developed the world’s first radio-controlled flying insect, Mecha Tombo. Released in Japan by CCP, a subsiduary of the Bandai Namco Group, Mecha Tombo is an ultra-light, dual-wing, crash-resistant dragonfly. Using an ornithopter design with a carbon fiber frame, it sounds like a real insect. Each 20-minute charge gives approximately 7 minutes of flying time, and it can be flown both inside and outside with a contact range of 50 feet.
