As the population ages, paper diaper consumption is increasing. However, the combustion of disposable paper diapers during waste disposal uses a large amount of fossil fuel, resulting in high processing cost. The SFD (Super Faith Disposer) system from Super Faiths can be used to process paper diapers from health-care facilities and the like, simply by feeding polyethylene bags full of diapers into the system. In this system, fecal matter is fermented by aerobic bacteria, the moisture content of the absorbent material of diapers is evaporated, and pathogens are destroyed by heat treatment. The material output, after cooling, weighs less than one-third that before intake, having been converted into recycled fuel with heat content of 5,000 kcal/kg. This system, if used to process 300 kg of paper diapers per day, can reduce CO2 emission by 40 tons per year.
