At Tokyo Truck Show 2009, Nippon Chemi-Con exhibited an electric double-layer capacitor, DL-CAP.
To demonstrate the characteristics of this capacitor, Nippon Chemi-Con has installed it in Tokai University’s electric vehicle, called Faraday’s Magic. Energy produced by regenerative braking is stored in the capacitor and utilized efficiently. In this way, the vehicle has won the World Econo Move competition for five consecutive years.
Nippon Chemi-Con has utilized its own technology for manufacturing high-density electrodes, so electrodes that combine high capacity with low resistance can charge and discharge a large current. The company is going to enter the European market, in line with EC exhaust regulations and efforts to eliminate idling.
