D+ropop - The Cardboard Robot

-
At International Robot Exhibition 2009, Eager presented a corrugated cardboard robot called D+ropop.
D+ropop is 176 cm tall and weighs just 6 kg. It’s powered by 100 V AC mains power, and uses low-noise servomotors to move its arms and neck. These motors were developed and programmed in collaboration with other companies. Their quietness and performance enable the robot to move in a smooth, elegant, feminine way.
Even if this cardboard robot outlives its use, it can be recycled, so it’s getting a lot of attention as an “eco-robot” in and outside Japan. D+ropop is likely to see increasing demand as a new advertising medium, in apparel stores, museums, the advertising industry, and at all sorts of events.
