Mitsubishi RV-2 SQ Industrial Robot

-
At the International Robot Exhibition 2009, Mitsubishi Electric presented its industrial robot RV-2 SQ, which takes up little space but can move through a wide range and carry 2 kg.
This robot's minimum radius of movement is 56% smaller than in previous models, at 140 mm. This was achieved by optimizing the robot's arm length and shape.
The robot supports Mitsubishi's integrated platform for factory automation, called the iQ Platform. It can exchange data at high speed with sequencers, which control production equipment, and with higher-level information systems. This can reduce tact time in the manufacturing system overall.
In this demo, a camping car and airplane are being made out of Lego blocks by two ceiling-mounted robots.
The RV-2 SQ was released in October. Its standard price is 1,750,000 yen excluding tax. In the first year, Mitsubishi Electric aims to sell 1,000 units.
