At the International Welding Show 2010, Star Electric Manufacturing exhibited the Arcury 150, a semiautomatic welder that doesn't need a shield gas when being used outdoors.
To achieve a good finish, most arc welders use an inert gas such as argon or CO2 to shield the weld, keeping out oxygen generated during the welding reaction. But in outdoor work, such a shield is easily affected by wind, so most welding is done indoors. To eliminate this problem, the Arcury 150 uses flux-cored wire, this expands the scope for non-gas, non-shielded outdoor welding.
This welder has a high output of 150 A, and is priced at 130,000 yen.
