On July 30, Sharp will release the AQUOS Quattron 3D LV series of LCD TVs with four-color technology. On July 20, the company will release the AQUOS Quattron LX series of high-definition models with vivid 2D color. On July 1, Sharp will also release the XF series.
The name Quattron was created by combining "quattro," the Italian word for four, and "electron." Quattron is Sharp's unique display technology, which adds yellow to the three conventional colors red, green, and blue.
The 3D-capable LV series, utilize light with greater efficiency as well as reproducing vivid colors. When compared to conventional three-color LCD panels they are 1.8 times brighter, which allows for greater levels of contrast and brightness when viewing images in 3D. In addition, Sharp has combined its unique FRED technology with scanning LED backlight technology, which reduces afterimages. The result is a 3D display with very little crosstalk.
The LX series are high-resolution, high-fidelity models that deliver rich, vivid 2D color. The LX series and the 3D LV series have an eight-speaker system called the Around Speaker System, or ARSS. They also feature a low-vibration woofer called Duo Bass, making the audio experience even more impressive.
The XF series are high-resolution, slim models with a full-flat design, featuring an edge backlight system.
Along with these models, Sharp also announced the AQUOS Blu-ray. It has a surround sound headphone jack, enabling surround sound to be enjoyed using stereo headphones.
