King Jim Pitrec Digital Business Card Recorder

-
On August 6, King Jim will release the Pitrec, a digital business card recorder that has the functionality of a regular business card holder, and also provides digital search capability.

The name Pitrec comes from "pit in" and "record." It stores business cards as images, with just one touch. This pocket-sized device does everything, from reading in image data to searching through it.

"We also sell lots of ordinary business card holders. But many customers can't find the card they need, when they need it. On the other hand, digital business card software hasn't become widespread. That's probably because it can't be used in the same way as actual business cards. So we've developed the Pitrec, as a digital business card holder that combines aspects of ordinary business card holders as well."

The Pitrec captures images of business cards with a camera, and stores them on a microSD card. It automatically uses OCR to obtain the name of the person and company on each card.

"To use the Pitrec, first, you switch on the camera. You use this clip here to hold the card. Then all you need to do is press the shutter button. The Pitrec has OCR, so it automatically obtains the name of the person and company on the card. If there's no error in the data, it then stores them automatically."

The 2GB microSD card supplied can store about 2,000 business cards. The Pitrec has a 3.5-inch WQVGA display, with 400 x 240 resolution.

The Pitrec comes in black and is priced at 26,000 yen.
