At CEDEC 2010, Sony Computer Entertainment presented PlayStation Move, for release worldwide from September, and a title exclusively for the Move, called Me & My Pet.
The PlayStation Move is a new way to interact with games on the PlayStation 3, using a motion controller and the PlayStation 3 USB camera. It enables intuitive and realistic play, by recognizing not only movement on the x and y axes, but on the z axis as well. It also responds to very slight movements, such as changes in wrist angle, allowing for true 1:1 motion control.
The motion controller has 3-axis gyro, 3-axis acceleration, and a motion tracking sensor, enabling it to detect the player's hand movements with high precision. In addition, motion of the sphere on the end of the controller is detected by PlayStation Eye, the USB camera for PlayStation 3. In this way, PlayStation Move detects the 3D absolute position of the controller in the play space.
"PlayStation Move is ideal for games that require delicate tilting and accurate position recognition. This game makes use of an surface where the pet runs around freely, so the surface of the area has to be specified. Before starting the game, you place the motion controller vertically in the center of the area, so it recognizes where the surface area is."
"With this particular mini game, the motion controller corresponds to a glove. So on the screen, the controller appears as a glove. You can move the glove to play with the pet on the screen."
Me & My Pet is a title exclusively for PlayStation Move, where a little monkey moves along with the player. The motion controller can be augmented with a variety of tools and toys, so you can play with your pet and take care of it. The pet's appearance can also be altered to suit your preferences. The game also supports play in 3D mode.
