USB camera for close-up photos of the scalp - Scaloupe

-

At Tokyo International Gift Show Spring 2011, Spec Computer exhibited the Scaloupe, a USB camera that takes close-ups of the scalp.

"A lot of men are conscious of their hair, particularly their scalp. This camera lets people check things such as the effects of their shampoo, at home, by themselves."

"The Scaloupe is easy to use. You hold it like a mouse, and use the aperture and light dials to adjust the brightness, so you can check out your scalp. The pictures are shown on your PC. There's a shutter on the device, so you can take a photo by pressing it."

Scalp condition varies widely among people. By taking close-ups, this camera makes it easy to check for color changes, surface injuries, oily pores, and dandruff accumulation.

The Scaloupe is not a medical instrument, so the photos can't be used for diagnostic purposes. But it's ideal for seeing how well hair restorer is working, or checking that a hairpiece fits properly.

The Scaloupe was released in September 2010. It's available directly through Spec Computer's website, for 7,980 yen ($95) including tax.
