Tornex Table - removes cigarette smoke using artificial vortex

-

At the Food Service Equipment Show, Tornex presented the Tornex Table. This system removes cigarette smoke from smoking areas, using artificial vortex generation technology.

"By contrast to systems that simply suck smoke in, this one creates a vortex. So if you smoke in the area delimited by the silver poles, the smoke will be drawn into the vortex and removed. The way the system works is that air is blown out from all the poles in the same direction, making the air in this space rotate. At the table below, the air is extracted in a balanced fashion, creating a vortex like this. In this way, the air in the smoking area is efficiently extracted and purified."

The extracted smoke passes through a main filter, a specially designed activated charcoal filter, and a pre-filter. This system removes 95% of the smoke and odor before the air returns to the smoking area. The four poles in the corners create an air curtain, and together with the vortex action, this stops air diffusing out of the smoking area. This system makes it possible to provide an open smoking area without walls.

"We're currently marketing this system mainly in China and South-East Asia. In Japan, we're marketing "smoking areas" like this to public facilities, amusement arcades, and restaurants, as well as offices."

The Tornex Table costs around 2,500,000 yen.
